September 24, 2018) (purported class action brought by Lumberton residents alleging CSX Corporation negligently maintained an underpass on the railroad’s property which allowed water to pour through gaps in the city’s levees, causing catastrophic flooding and damage to their homes during Hurricane Florence)
Grimes v. Gov’t Emps. Ins. Co. (GEICO), No. 1:18-cv-798 (M.D.N.C. September 24, 2018) (purported class action brought against GEICO for alleged systematic underpayment of claims under Medical Payments coverage on North Carolina automobile insurance policies)
Presson, et al. v. Recovery Connections Cmty., 5:18-cv-466 (E.D.N.C. September 27, 2018) (purported collective and class action brought under federal and state wage and hour laws against defendant substance abuse recovery service provider alleging it required workers to work long hours for area businesses and “pocketed” the wages for its own benefit)
Sanchez-Lopez v. Nat’l Delivery Sys., Inc., et al., No. 3:18-cv-502 (E.D.N.C. September 13, 2018) (purported collective and class action removed from state court brought by hourly security guards under federal and state wage and hour laws alleging defendant failed to pay overtime compensation for duties that were required for the job)
Wiggins v. Midland Credit Mgmt., Inc., et al., No. 2:18-cv-2512 (D.S.C. September 11, 2018) (purported class action alleging defendant debt collection company sent misleading communications to consumers in violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act by failing to disclose that Defendant cannot sue for the time-barred debt and that the previously lapsed statute of limitations to file a lawsuit may recommence through certain actions such as a partial payment)
